Chaotic (L.O.R.D.S. #7) — Chapter no 68

SIXTY-EIGHT

EV ERETT

pull up to the house and slam on my brakes. Getting out of myI car, I enter the front doors like I own the place. “Apolo gize,” by Timbaland and OneRe pub lic plays through the speakers of the TV that’s mounted on the wall.

“You son of a bitch,” I yell over it, and a set of green eyes glances up at me from the kitchen.

“What can I do for you, Eve?” Adam asks dryly.

My eyes drop to the blood smeared on his shirt. “Quit telling lies, for starters,” I snap.

“It was a long night.” He turns to the fridge. “I haven’t been to bed yet, so forgive me if I’m not in the mood to play your games.”

I huff. The nerve of this guy. Something gets my attention, and I turn to see Missy entering the kitchen from the hallway. She’s got a black eye, a cut on her cheek, and has a few stitches with a busted lip.

Her eyes drop to the floor, and she wraps her arms around herself.

I no tice she’s wearing an over sized T-shirt and nothing else. It’s got to be Adam’s. “You know, at some point it stops being rough sex and becomes abuse.”

She glances at Adam before she sits down at the bar. I’d bet my life she’s still a virgin.

Adam grabs a bag of frozen peas out of the freezer before turn ing to face us. “Hold that to your face,” he orders, hold ing them out across the is land to her.

Taking them, she looks at me. “There was a fight at the bar last night. A guy used me as a shield.”

“A human shield?” I’m not surprised. That place is shady at best.

She flinches, plac ing the bag on her face and answering, “Yeah.”

“What do you want, Eve?” Adam sighs.

“We need to talk.”

He nods. “My office. Keep that on your face,” he commands Missy, and she gets up, walks to the couch, and lies down.

I follow him to his office, and I slam the door behind me.

“Please enlighten me on what I’ve lied about,” he says sitting at his

desk.

“You told Kashton that we’ve fucked.”

He tilts his head to the side. “He asked me a question, and I an‐ swered. Why is that such a bad thing?”

Why were they even talking about my sex life in the first place?

“Be cause it’s a lie.” He knows I don’t sleep around. That’s why he said he was proud of me when I slept with Kashton after I told him.

“No, it’s not.”

Is he high? “Yes, it is. I’ve never slept with you, Adam.”

I worked so hard to not have sex after Bill saved me. I re alized I needed to get away. Start a life for myself. The next year, I was in‐ tro duced to Adam. He was on the run, going to Ve gas, and I begged him to take me with him. I saw an opportu nity to get the fuck away from here.

Adam runs a hand down his face. “I know it’s hard to come to terms—”

“Come to terms with what?” I bark, not liking the accusation.

“Everett, you were trained.”

I give a manic laugh. “Are you saying that I begged you to fuck

me?”

His eyes soften but he says nothing.

“No.” I lick my lips. “We didn’t…” I trail off. “I would re member that.”

He opens a drawer and pulls out an enve lope. Re moving the con‐ tents, he holds something out to me.

I take it with shaking hands, and my heart leaps in my chest at what I see. I’m lying in the center of the bed, tied, spread eagle, with a blind fold over my eyes. Adam stands at the foot of the bed,

also naked, with his dick in his hand and his cum cover ing my pussy and thighs.

“No,” I whisper as my legs give out, and I fall onto the edge of the couch. “This isn’t me…” Tears sting my eyes. “We didn’t.” But we did, and it is me.

I had gained maybe twenty pounds here from when Bill pulled me out of Dollhouse, but I’m still too thin. They didn’t make sure to keep you fed while in training, but the drugs also helped curb your appetite. Plus, starvation keeps you weak.

“I’m sorry, Eve,” he says softly. “I didn’t know that you didn’t re‐ member. We just never talked about it. You were re ally drunk and showed up at my room. I was drunk, wallowing in my own pity that night that I had to leave home, my mom dead, my sister running to Ve gas… I should have told you no. I took advantage of you.”

“It was pity sex.” I sniff, understanding what he means. “I begged you to fuck me. I took advantage of you.”

“No. That’s not what happened at all,” he rushes out.

I glance up at him.

“You’re beau tiful, Eve. And that night you were upset. You were trained to serve.” I flinch at his words, but that’s only because they’re true. “It wasn’t your fault. I should have said no and put you to bed to sleep, but I was weak. I took total advantage of the situ a‐ tion, and I’m sorry for that.”

“I… Why can’t I re member?” I ask more to myself. After Evan told me we had sex, I was able to re member bits and pieces. Maybe not every time, but there was something there. “Why don’t I re member

with you?”

He shrugs. “I can’t answer that.”

“Where did you get this?” I hold up the photo.

“Isabella gave it to Haidyn after their training se nior year. She was blackmailing him. Told him she had proof I was in Ve gas and that if he didn’t give her what she wanted, she’d make sure I was found and charged for the death of the missing girl that I didn’t kill.”

This just keeps getting better and better. “So Haidyn has seen this picture of me naked, tied to a bed, with your cum between my legs.”

He sighs. “He didn’t know it was you.”

I stand and he takes a step toward me. “Please don’t.” I hold out my hand and he steps back, giving me space.

“I’ll call Kash—”

“No,” I rush out. “I just want to be alone.” I’m on the verge of tears. I’m a fucking train wreck. A whore. I told Ashtyn I hadn’t fucked Kashton’s friends. Turns out that’s a lie. I did. Threw myself

at him from what it sounds like.

“Eve—”

“I’m sorry,” I interrupt him.

“You have nothing to be sorry for.”

I rub my sweaty hands on my jeans before taking a step back. “I have to go. I’m sorry I interrupted your day.”

KASHTON I’m standing in the basement with Saint and Haidyn. Both of them are in shit moods today. I, on the other hand, woke up in a great mood. It’s going to be even better in a couple hours when I’m in bed with my wife.

My cell rings, and I see its Adam. “I’ll be right back,” I tell the guys and rush toward the stairs. They still don’t have his contact informa‐ tion that I know of, and if he’s calling me, it has to be about Eve.

Last I heard the cops were at a standstill since the woman disap‐ peared. They don’t have enough evidence yet on my girl to bring her in, but they’re searching for it.

“Hello?” I answer before running up the stairs. “Everything okay?” I look down over the railing from the second floor to make sure they’re not following me. I push open the door and step out into the

hallway.

“Eve came to visit me today.”

“What did she want?” I ask when he doesn’t elab o rate.

“I didn’t know that she didn’t re member we had sex.”

I come to a stop and frown. “She came to see you to talk about sex?”

“I guess you two had a conver sa tion about it, and she was mad at

me for lying.”

“You lied —”

“No. We had sex.”

I grind my teeth at the fact that he keeps bringing this up. I know what she’s been through and who has used her. I hones tly don’t see her any differently, but I definitely don’t want him to re hash him fuck ing her. “Get to the fuck ing point, Adam,” I snap.

“But she doesn’t re member. To her, it never happened.”

As much as I’m happy that my wife can’t re member fucking my brother, I frown. “Well, I feel like that’s logical after what she’s been through. She chose to block it out, right? I’ve seen her dissociate be‐ fore.”

“Yeah, I guess.” He sighs. “I just wanted to let you know. She was upset. On the verge of tears that she had no recollec tion of it. She stormed into my house but left with her head hang ing. I told her I’d call you, but she told me not to. That she wanted to be alone. But one thing I know about Eve is that her being alone usually isn’t a good thing.”

I hate how well he knows my wife. “How long ago was she there?”

I haven’t checked her tracker at all today.

“Ear lier this morning. Be fore noon.”

So she went straight to him after she left here this morn ing? “And you’re just now calling me. It’s al most ten,” I bark, check ing my watch. She was supposed to be spend ing the day with Janice, going over things for the birthday party Janice wants to throw her.

“I’ve been a little busy,” he snaps defensively.

I start to make my way to the garage. “Thanks for letting me know,” I say tightly. “The drugs aren’t help ing.”

“What drugs?” he questions. “Eve doesn’t do them.”

My skin heats up that he knows her so well. “She was drugged the other night at Blackout. Some kind of topical shit to make her horny.”

He’s quiet for a second before he speaks. “Gen.”

“Who the fuck is she?” I demand, entering the garage.

“It’s a drug. Not a she.”

I roll my eyes, grabbing my helmet. “Well, whatever it is, she’s hav‐ ing major mood swings.” Be fore he can say anything else, I add. “I’ll text you later.”

I check Eve’s location on my phone. “Goddammit,” I hiss, seeing where she’s at.

Jumping on my bike, I squeal out of the gates of Carnage. I don’t even bother to tell the guys I’m leaving as “Fire Up the Night” by New Medicine blares in my ears.
